Resort History
In the 1970s, the Gosnell Development Corporation purchased the abandoned Cactus Rock Lodge and surrounding area with a vision to create the Valley's premier resort. In 1977, Gosnell's vision came into fruition when the Pointe at Squaw Peak opened its doors. Complete with exceptional amenities and service, family-friendly activities and unique dining options, the Pointe at Squaw Peak quickly became one of the top places to stay in the Valley. The Gosnells also transformed the Cactus Rock Lodge into the Hole-in-the-Wall Eatin' and Drinkin' place, which soon became a popular dining destination in Phoenix with its Old West atmosphere. The Pointe at Squaw Peak was purchased in 1991 by Hilton and was renamed Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak.
